Please join us for a breakfast meeting on March 11, 2014 on the topic of Communication:  An Essential Tool for a Strategic Business Partner.  Effective communication is essential for HR professionals to fill their role of strategic business partner and to demonstrate/evaluate their own contributions to the organization’s strategic objectives.  In learning to speak the language of business, HR professionals must be at the top of their game as skilled communicators.  This includes knowing how to most effectively communicate the organization’s mission throughout the firm (starting with the recruitment, selection, and orientation processes) and developing a performance management system that reinforces the strategic objectives of the organization.

Specific techniques for improved communication will be explored including providing constructive feedback (critical in performance management), reading nonverbal language and how to be a more active listener.  As the responsible party for driving change management, understanding resistance often begins with listening and reading the nonverbal cues of resistors.

    Objectives:
    • Participants will better understand how to use nonverbal communication tools to more effectively communicate to their stakeholders.

    • Participants will be able to recognize nonverbal cues in identifying resistance to change efforts in the organization.

    • Participants will learn how to integrate these communication tools into their strategic role in talent management and performance management (specifically in the selection process and performance evaluation process).
