Join the SHRM Delaware State Council as it hosts an event on August 7, 2018 at Goldey Beacom College. Learn from EEOC and ESGR representatives focused on their respective mediation programs, defining mediation, benefits of mediation, how to prepare for mediation, and the procedures used. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the federal agency responsible for helping employers understand, prevent, and correct discrimination in the workplace. The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency responsible for assisting in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment, in compliance with the USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act) federal law.

Presenters Include:
Ronald M. Shane, SPHR, AP is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s employment panel of arbitrators and mediators. He also serves on the mediation panel and settlement panel for the Philadelphia District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the mediation panels of the U.S. Postal Service and the Philadelphia Human Relations Commission. Ronald is a member of the Association For Conflict Resolution (ACR) and holds the designation of Advanced Practitioner (AP) in ACR’s Workplace Section. He is a member of the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has achieved the distinction of lifetime certification at the senior professional level in human resources (SPHR). He is a graduate of Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York.
Cynthia Locke is an ADR Mediator for the EEOC in its Philadelphia District Office where she mediates employment discrimination matters for the agency. Prior to her mediation work, Ms. Locke was a litigation attorney for the EEOC, filing discrimination complaints on behalf of the agency and litigating the cases in federal courts. She graduated with honors from Rutgers School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, where she was an associate editor of the Rutgers Law Journal, and has conducted training for the Philadelphia Bar Association, Drexel University, Youth Initiative Groups, human resources professionals, attorneys, employers, and civic and high school groups on employment discrimination issues and on EEOC's mediation program.
Deborah Pierce-Shields, Esq., SPHR, SHRM-SCP is the Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Integrity Staffing Solutions, has leadership responsibility of the field Human Resources staff and development of the in-house legal function. Deborah’s extensive experience includes executive in-house legal, human resources and compliance positions at companies in diverse industries such as DuPont, Continental Airlines, Campbell Soup, Sears and Home Depot. She was also appointed and served as the Regional Solicitor for Region III of the U.S. Department of Labor. Deborah earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, U.S. District Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Frank B. Ingraham, Ed.D., SPHR, SHRM-SCP is an Adjunct Instructor and Academic Advisor at Wilmington University, having extensive human resources and labor relations experience at DuPont, as well as multiple volunteer leadership roles within ESGR (Ombudsman and Chair Emeritus), SHRM (Delaware State Council Director), Delaware Center for Justice (mediator), and Wilmington University (WilmU) Adjunct, Advisor, and Alumni Association Vice President. At WilmU, Frank teaches Strategy in Organizations masters and doctoral level classes, weaving relevant business events and experiences, goal achievement success strategies, and conflict resolution tools and techniques into the classroom.
