Join us for a dinner meeting on July 9, 2013 at 5:30 pm for a presentation by Eric Peterson, SHRM’s Manager of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives on the topic of "Energize and Engage: How Inclusion Supercharges Employee Satisfaction and Performance."
There is no question that organizations today are facing enormous challenges with globalization, demographic changes, economic and political shifts, and the recruitment and retention of great talent. The ability to effectively create more inclusive and work environments and engaged employees - in a wide variety of contexts – has become a key lever for creating competitive advantage in a rapidly changing world. Energizing workers is just one part of the solution. Research shows that diverse and inclusive workforces are more creative, innovative and successful than mono-cultural, homogenous workforces. They are also able to relate better to a diverse client base. And, they illustrate that organizations are serious about the culture they are creating in the workplace.
In this engaging and informative discussion, Eric Peterson of SHRM's Diversity and Inclusion Department will highlight the latest research findings on key drivers of job satisfaction and employee engagement. He will demonstrate how a real and lasting commitment to diversity at all levels of the organization can boost companies' bottom lines. Mr. Peterson will also share real-world examples of how organizations are attracting, engaging, and retaining talent and transforming their organizations into great places to work. Participants will not only be re-energized by the content, but they will leave this session with at least 15 strategies for building an inclusive and engaging work environment.
Biography: Eric Peterson is Manager of Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives at SHRM. He has a decade of experience in Diversity Climate & Culture Programming, Diversity Education, Learning Strategies, and Organization Development. Before coming to SHRM, Mr. Peterson worked for 15 years at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he held such positions as Diversity Learning Manager, Diversity Climate & Culture Manager, and Training & Development Specialist. His essays on diversity and inclusion have been published in Profiles in Diversity Journal and Echelon Magazine, among others.
